How do I apply Bhutan tourist visa?

As per the Govt.regulaton, you can’t personally apply for tourist visa to Bhutan. Application has to be done by an authorized travel agent in Bhutan on behalf of you. The visa must be pre-arranged and obtained through your tour operator prior to travel.

The procedures of obtaining tourist visa to Bhutan.

• Book a Bhutan tour package with us Local Bhutan Tours & Travel.
• We will confirm your air ticket on Druk air or Bhutan Airlines.
• After confirming itinerary and the tour cost, then we will send you the bank details for payment transfer to Bhutan.
• Now you are required to transfer the full tour payment and the flight ticket cost in the name of “Local Bhutan Travel “along with your scan copy of passport. Your passport should have minimum 6 months validity at the point of arrival to Bhutan.
• Once we received full payment, then we forward to the Govt.account (Tourism Council of Bhutan) along with your scan copy of passport to process visa. After verify, the visa will be approved by the Tourism council of Bhutan within 3 – 10 working days before your arrival to Bhutan.
• Your visa application will be a digital submission and it will come as an electronic document. After getting your visa approved, then we will forward to you via email
• You are required to show your printed copy of visa clearance letter on arrival at the airport. The visa will then be stamped into your passport.

Bhutan Visa Requirements

Every visitor to Bhutan requires a tourist visa. Except Indian, Bangladesh and Maldivian nationals can obtain a permit at the point of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6 months validity (Indian nationals may also use their Voters Identity Card (VIC)).

Visas are only issued to tourists whom booked tour packages with local tour operators directly.

• Visa application is submitted by tour operator on behalf of visitors.
• Visa is issued by Tourism Council of Bhutan in Thimphu Bhutan, after making full tour payment to Bhutan.
• The Royal Government of Bhutan sets minimum selling prices for packages to Bhutan and this must be paid in US dollars prior to arrival in Bhutan.
